Last Tuesday in Algona, the Cowgirl golf team defeated the Bulldogs 222-228. Karina Torres led the way with a 54, which was good enough to earn her runner-up medalist honors. Other counting scores were Emily Christianson at 55, Sawyer Morrical at 56 and Tessa Warnke at 57. Other varsity rounds were played by Nicole Waters (58) and Delia Swanson (59).
The JV also won 263-270. JV scores were: Sydney Friesleben with 62, Lauren Brooks with 63, Reagan Goodell with 69 and Olyvia Olson with 69.
On Thursday they traveled to the Lakeside course at Fort Dodge for a conference tri-meet with Clear Lake and St. Edmond. The Lions won with a 182 total, followed by the Cowgirls with 225 and the Gaels with 254. Waters fired the low round at 54, with Swanson at 55, Morrical at 58 and Brooks at 58 as the counting cards. Other rounds were played by Torres (59) and Warnke (62).
On Friday they hosted Eagle Grove and South Hamilton and shot a 213 to defeat the Hawks (218) and the Eagles (251). Warnke led with a 50 for runner-up medalist. Torres came to the clubhouse with a 52, Morrical a 53 and Swanson a 58 for other counters. Brooks had a 59 and Waters a 60 for other varsity rounds. “That was Tessa’s lowest round of the season, and 213 was the team’s lowest score of the year,” stated head coach Dennis March.
