Webster City took the team title by just eight strokes in the NCC boy’s golf tournament last Monday at the Fort Dodge CC course. In fact, it was such a competitive meet that only 30 strokes separated the top six teams. The Lynx finished with a 328 total, followed by Clear Lake with 336, Hampton-Dumont/CAL with 339, Humboldt with 342, St. Edmond with 348, Iowa Falls-Alden with 358, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows with 375 and Algona with 381. Trey Lyons of the Lynx was individual champion with a 78.
For the Cowboys, Jacob Moore led the way with a 90 followed by Cale Kirstein with a 91. Elic Fjetland carded a 95, Tyson Berning a 99, Jackson Beisel a 100 and Camden Hanson a 103.
They followed that up on Friday by entering postseason play at a sectional hosted by Clarmond. Lake Mills won with 318, followed by Osage at 334, the Cowboys at 365, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 366, Belmond-Klemme at 375, Forest City at 391 and Eagle Grove at 446. Bennett Berger of Lake Mills was first individually with a 72.
Cowboy scores were Fjetland at 85 for seventh place, Moore at 91 for 11th, Cale Kirstein at 93 for 13th, Hanson at 96 for 17th, Berning at 97 for 18th and Colin Kirstein at 109 for 24th.
