Community Garden Tour, Children’s Program June 12

The Wright County Extension Office and First Lutheran Church Food Pantry have established a community garden to increase access to fresh produce for food pantry shoppers.  The Food Pantry Community Garden is located at the community garden plots north of the Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion.  On Saturday, June 12th, at 1pm, visit the Food Pantry Community Garden for a garden tour.  Following the tour at 2pm, there will be a children’s program led by Master Gardeners on garden maintenance.  Programs are free and open to all community members.  This is a great opportunity to learn from the experts and instill food self-sustainability at a young age!  For more information or to register, contact the Wright County Extension Office at 515-532-3453.

Extension Master Gardeners is an internationally recognized volunteer program.  The program exists in all fifty states, and in Iowa is coordinated by Iowa State University Extension and Outreach with support from the Department of Horticulture.  Applications are currently being accepted through July 1st for 2021 Master Gardener Training that will take place online August 30th through November 5th.
