In summarizing two previous games that were not yet reported on, the Cowboys lost to Iowa Falls-Alden 12-3 as Preston Gardner, Thane Jackson and Damien Bjorklund came up with the only hits. Nevan Foss, Cael Chase and Gardner scored the runs, with Gardner also credited with an RBI. Bjorklund took the loss, allowing two earned on 12 hits while striking out five batters. C. Chase also saw pitching duties, striking out two.
After taking a 2-0 lead early, they lost to Hampton-Dumont/CAL 17-2. Foss and C. Chase had a double each, with Porter Chase, Mateo Martinez, Mason Allen and Jackson all reaching on singles. Foss and P. Gardner brought in the runs. Porter threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up 13 earned on 16 hits with five walks and a strikeout.
They hosted Algona last Monday and lost 12-1. Those stats were not yet available at press time. They lost a wild home game the next night to North Iowa 11-10. Martinez and P. Gardner swung the big sticks, as Mateo was 3 for 6 with a double and three RBI while Preston went 3 for 5 with two doubles and and two RBI. Bjorklund doubled twice, while Foss added one more to the total. C. Chase and Bjorklund both drove in a run. P. Chase took the loss, allowing three earned on five hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked no batters, but hit one, and had one strikeout. Bjorklund threw 4 1/3, with seven earned on nine hits with a walk.
They finished the regular season at Eagle Grove and lost a tight 7-6 game to the Eagles, and finished their season at Hudson in a first round district loss 11-1 to the home Pirates. Stats for both games were not yet available. The team finishes 1-21, with Bjorklund and Martinez playing their final games in a Cowboy uniform.
