In the weekly COVID update, Sandy McGrath said that the county has had four new cases in the last week. She added that state lab results are showing that 85% of new cases statewide are the Delta variant, which spreads easier and can be more severe, so we should assume that it is also in Wright County.
McGrath reported that 45.7% of the county is now vaccinated. She said that Public Health gave 20 vaccinations at the county fair. The county sits at 32nd in the state for vaccinations given.
Adam Clemons, Wright County Engineer, asked the board to consider a resolution revising the county’s five-year road construction program. The resolution modified some paving work on Madison Ave/R 38 north of Clarion, pertaining to paving from the city limits to the Lake Cornelia blacktop. It also removed from the program paving C25 to C20 for now. The measure was approved.
In other board business, Shari Plagge, Wright County Assessor, asked the board to sign off on various tax credits for homeowners for the 2022-23 tax year, including the Homestead credit, Disable Veteran’s Homestead credit and Military exemptions. Eric Rector, Conservation Director, requested and was granted the reappointment of Laura Thomas from Eagle Grove to the Conservation Board for another 5-year term.
At the end of the meeting, the board went into closed session “pursuant to Chapter 21.5 (c) of the Iowa Code to discuss strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position of the governmental body in that litigation in a response to the Studebaker letter.“ After the closed session, the board voted to go with “Option B.”
