For the past several years, the Wright County Fair has been hosting a Little Mr. & Miss contest on opening night after the Fair Parade. Kids from Wright County between the ages of four and seven are encouraged to register an hour before the event begins for the chance to win the title.
Ten at a time, the little boys and girls are called up onto the stage and asked to take a seat. They are each called up individually to answer a fun question asked by one of the hostesses, Jill Link and Paige Grandgeorge. What makes this event so enjoyable is not just seeing these potential little kings and queens all dressed up and smiling, but the answers they sometimes give to some of these questions. One little this year was asked what they couldn’t live without. The answer drew lots of awwwws from the crowd – “My parents.” One little boy was asked if he could eat anything for the rest of his life what it would be, he responded, “My brother’s cow.” The crowd was caught a bit off-guard by the answer and chuckled a little.
More than 30 kids participated in this year's event, but in the end, only one little boy and one little girl can take home the crowns and titles. This year, it was awarded to Silas Meyer and Maime Canon. As you can see from the photo, they both had very outgoing personalities and were thrilled, to say the least, to have won. They were so excited, they could hardly contain their enthusiasm for their picture.
All participants received a coupon for a free Sweet Treat from the ice cream vendor at the Fair. The Little Mr. & Miss also received a free pack of ride tickets for the carnival.
