Last week, representatives from AARP stopped by Clarion to present funds for the Pocket Park that will soon be underway on the 100 block of Central Avenue. The city was granted $15,000 from the AARP’s Community Challenge grant that seeks to fund “quick-action projects.” The goal of such projects, according to AARP’s website, is to “help urban, rural and suburban communities make immediate improvements and jumpstart long-term progress to support residents of all ages.” The pocket park which will feature seating areas, a walkway, and different plants and bushes is set to be completed by the end of the year. Various city and local officials came out for a photo opportunity with AARP representative Anthony Carroll, including Clarion Mayor Duane Asbe, City Administrator Clint Middleton, Councilmember Andy Young, and Chamber Board President Jordan Weber.
