Last Monday, the team competed at Algona with Spencer taking the top team spot with a low of 46 points. St. Edmond was a distant second at 87, followed by Clear Lake at 101, Okoboji at 133 and Charles City at 137 points.
The Cowgirls took three runners to the meet. Madison Ingebritsen was 81st in 27:31, Emalyn Nel was 95th in 30:45 and Natasha Johnson came home 100th in 37:10. Spencer won the JV team title. The middle school kids also took part. Algona won the team title with 60 points, followed by Spencer at 66 and PAC at 84.
Clear Lake won the boys varsity title with 70 points, followed by Okoboji at 110, Mason City at 117, Charles City at 167 and Forest City at 183. The Cowboys were 19th as a team.
Chris Greenfield took 80th for the top individual finisher at 20:56. Following behind him were: Luke Brownell at 103rd in 22:11; Thomas Klaver at 112th in 24:18. Jackson Beisel at 114th in 24:21;Tate Jackson at 116th in 25:14; Jacob Moore at 126th in 27.52 Ethan Boots at 127th in 27:52. They also took two JV runners. Jacob Whorton was 106th in 24:22 and Russbel Garcia was 153rd in 29:46.
On Thursday in a meet hosted by Hampton-Dumont/CAL at Maynes Grove, Sumner-Fredricksburg took the girls varsity title with 46 points followed by Mason City Public at 64, West Fork at 78, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura at 81 and Osage at 111. Katelyn Johnson of Osage crossed in 19:35.11 for the individual gold.
The team was led by Nel at 72nd with 29:12.19. Following her to the finish line were Johnson at 90th in 22:46.43 and Lauren Hansch at 95th with 35:58.30.
Osage claimed the middle school girls title with Waverly-Shell Rock and John Adams in the top three. Kennedy Hoesing was 43rd in 21:10.70, Neveah Torres 49th in 22:44.34, Kenna Chapman 56th in 26:53.67 and Gracie Claggett 57th in 25:57.76.
A good Mason City Public team easily won the varsity crown with 28 points, followed by Central Springs at 87 and Sumner-Fredricksburg at 125 points. The Cowboys were 11th in the final standings. Cowboy finishers were: Greenfield in 34th at 20:24.26; Brownell in 62nd at 21:45.22; Klaver in 75th with 22:16.99; Boots in 92nd at 23:33.39; Jackson in 96th at 23:56.888; Beisel in 98th at 24:08.52 ; Moore in 99th at 24:09.10; Wharton in 102nd at 24:55.46; Garcia in 120th at 28:03.93.
Waverly-Shell Rock was the middle school boys champion followed by Osage and Belmond-Klemme. The Cowboys were seventh. Cowboy finishes were: Christopher Matul 10th in 13:49.53; Nik Solis 49th in 17:11.27; Crew Garza 65th in 19:02.81; Logan Legleiter 66th in 19:04.65; Landon Munoz 69th 20:27.74; Silas Lantzky 80th in 23:37.75 and Julian Lopez-Hilliard 83rd in 29:28.67.
