Two of Heartland Museum’s admired donations sit in the Community Room – the ship “Old Ironsides” is one, and the other, measuring four feet long is the “Wapen of Hamburg”. Both of these stunning ships were made and donated by Dale Feller of Belmond.
Now, Heartland Museum is proud to announce the addition of the “Dale Feller Collection”. Feller has decided to downsize, and wanted to keep his collection together, if possible. Heartland Museum was contacted, and arrangements made. There are now over 140 of Feller’s creations in the museum, most in the “Woolstock” room in Ag Hall. A few military items ended up displayed in the Duty and Honor room, and another ship is in the Community Room.
Feller started making models about 25 years ago, when he retired. Some models and furniture pieces have been given away. Some blueprints were purchased, others were built to scale using information he researched. Many show the beauty of the wood, with a light finish; others are painted to look realistic. Feller has thousands of hours of work in his creations.
Heartland Museum looks forward to a grand opening in May or June to have the collection available for visitors to view.
