The Clarion City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, November 16.
In regular business, the council heard a presentation from Bob Powers about changes to the city's employee health insurance plan for the coming year.
The council also approved the submission of the airport's capital improvement plan, approved a resolution to pay TIF debt, and reviewed the Fiscal Year 21 Annual Financial Report and Urban Renewal Annual Report.
The council also approved an option from First Bank Clarion to renew a city CD for 12 months at .5%.
In other business, City Administrator Clint Middleton updated the council on the search for a facility for a daycare center. The project is not yet ready for formal resolutions, but Middleton is coordinating with the county to make sure the process can move quickly once things are ready to go. "Our plans are 100% hand-in-hand with the county," said Middleton.
Middleton also reported that the recent meeting of rental property owners went well, taking feedback and discussing ways to handle code compliance complaints. It was noted that complaints can be made both in person at city hall or through the city's website.
Finally, the council welcomed incoming council members following the recent election. Rodney Heiden will be taking over the Mayor's position as Mayor Duane Asbe decided not to run for re-election. Incumbent Dan Hennigar along with Nick McOllough and Dave Flurer claimed the three open city council seats.
