Maxheimer recognized for time on council

At last week’s Clarion City Council meeting, outgoing councilmember Dave Maxheimer was honored for his eight years of service on the council. Maxheimer has served two terms and decided not to seek re-election this last November.

At the meeting, a resolution of appreciation was passed “for his dedicated service as councilperson to the city of Clarion, Iowa.” According to the resolution, Maxheimer began his term in 2013. Over the years, he served on almost all the committees possible, including finance, human resources and public safety. The document acknowledged the “diligence and dedication with which [he] represented the people of Clarion.”

City Administrator Clint Middleton added that Maxheimer has been great at listening to citizens over the year and has been adept at navigating trouble spots. “Dave has a passion for serving this community,” Middleton said.

Mayor Duane Asbe thanked Maxheimer for looking out for what is best for the city. He added, “Thank you with sincerity for sitting in this position.”

For his part, Maxheimer thanked both Middleton and Asbe and his fellow councilmembers. “This has been a great group of people to work with,” he emphasized. He also offered advice to the newly elected councilmembers.

At the end of the meeting, the resolution was formally adopted and noted “the council do commend, honor, and express appreciation to Maxheimer for his commendable service to the City of Clarion.

Dave Flurer and Nick McOllough will be joining the council in January. Rod Heiden will be taking over as Clarion mayor.
