Gift of Giving helps even more families and children this year

After a big year of giving last year, the program Gift of Giving was back this holiday season to help even more families and children.

This year, the program served 128 families and 756 individuals, according to its organizers. The donation based effort provided Christmas presents, food, clothing and more to people in need.

The organizers noted that several businesses and countless individuals again helped make Gift of Giving possible this year. Donations include Centrum Valley giving 150 dozen eggs, groceries purchased from Dows grocery store, pork loins from Iowa Select, donations from Hagies, Bradford, Pizza Ranch, Fuel, First State Bank, local churches, Gold-Eagle Coop, First Citizens Bank, Iowa Specialty Hospital as well as many individual donors.

According to the organizers, “Along with all our wonderful local donations, Toys for Tots brought hundreds of more toys. And Kaeden's Kloset from Decorah brought our families clothes, coats, among other items.”

Many volunteers also helped in the weeks leading up to the big event. The headquarters of Gift of Giving this year was in the Rustic Raven warehouse, thanks to the generosity of the owners.

Thanks to all the good people involved in the Gift of Giving, hundreds of people in and around Clarion will have a merrier Christmas this year.
