Clarion Chamber and Economic Development Boards work toward merger

In recent months, the Clarion Chamber Board and Clarion Economic Development Board have notified their members of their intention to combine these two entities under one umbrella, the Clarion Development Alliance (CDA). The boards note that this merger will create a “new and robust organization.”

This plan has been under discussion for over a year and in the works for the last several months. Both boards sought information and guidance from other small towns that have gone through similar mergers, such as Belmond, who formed the Belmond Growth Alliance in the last couple of years. They are also now seeking a director for the CDA (see the advertisement for this job elsewhere in the paper).

In order to answer any questions and concerns that Chamber members have, there will be a Zoom meeting on February 24th at 5:30 PM. They also must vote on two resolutions in order to move forward with this process. 1) Adoption of resolutions of the Agreement to Combine Entities and for Disposition of Assets and Liabilities to Combined Entity and Article of Merger. 2) Adoption of a resolution dissolving the Clarion Chamber and Development

In a letter to members, the boards explain, “In order for us to continue to move forward with this unification, we need a majority vote to adopt the above resolutions. It is extremely important to have all members attend or fill out a proxy form if you are unable to join the Zoom meeting.”

This letter and information on how to join the meeting was emailed to members last week. If you are a Chamber member and did not receive the email, inquire at chamber@clarioniowa.com.
