The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows FFA is hosting a meal packaging event on March 2 at the CGD High School. The local FFA chapter is working with Meals from the Heartland, a faith-based organization who packages meals for delivery to malnourished children in Iowa, across the U.S. and around the world.
Local Committee Chair, CGD Senior, Delia Swanson was excited to bring this opportunity to members of the Clarion community. It gives the CGD FFA chapter and the community a chance to help locally but also globally those in need. FFA Leader Angela Charlson said, “This project is long overdue as it was organized during the pandemic, and we were unable to host it.”
The CGD FFA was also a recipient of a National Day of Service Mini Grant from the National FFA Organization of $400 that will be used towards the total expense of the project of $5,000. The FFA chapter is also taking donations that can be sent to the Clarion Ministerial Association at 219 1st St NW, Clarion, IA 50525.
Charlson added that the real need is volunteers to help with the packing. “We are needing able individuals above the age of eight to donate one or two hours to package meals,” she said. They are looking for about 160 volunteers. Individuals can sign up to volunteer at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10c0f44a8ac22a1fbc07-meals or use the QR code on the flyer.
