Cowboys do well in first outdoor track meet

Mason Allen blows out competition in discus

 

               After weeks of canceled meets, the Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Cowboy track team hit the ground running, so-to-speak. On Tuesday, April 19, they headed just down the road for a meet at Belmond-Klemme. And though the conditions were increasingly blustery and cold throughout the afternoon, the Cowboys had a solid showing.

               For overall team results, CGD took fourth place with 88.5 points out of seven teams. They came in behind Lake Mills (153 points), West Hancock (146) and Belmond-Klemme (111).

               The Cowboys racked up a few first place finishes. Sophomore Mason Allen took first in discus by an almost 40 foot margin with a throw of 152-9.0. In the 4×100 meter (runners L. Olson, C. State, N. Foss

A. Harrington) and 4×200 meter (runners Jacob Ingebritson, State, Foss, Harrington) relays the team took first place as well. Junior Nevan Foss took second in the high jump with 5-10. The 4×110 meter shuttle hurdle relay team also came in second with a 1:07.62 finish. The team came in second in the 800 medley relay (runners Olson, Diego Gonzalez, Ingebritson, Rigo Bobadilla).

               Other notable finishes: 100 m dash- 5th– SO Diego Gonzalez, 12.86; 200 m dash- 7th– JR Alex Greving-25.35; 1600 m run- 8th-FR Christopher Greenfield, 5.57.99; 400 M hurdles- 5th– FR Brandon Zigrang, 1:08.55, 6th – SR Janosch Rösner, 1:09.45; Long Jump- 5th– B. Zigrang- 16.4.5, 7th– J. Ingebritson- 15-10.5; Discus- 5th– FR Bryce Lindaman, 97-11.0; Shot put-5th– SO Nick Sisson- 38-7.0, 6th– SO Caden Hankins- 37-9.75.

 

Cowboys face tough competition at Humboldt track meet

 

               On Thursday’s meet in Humboldt, the Cowboys came in sixth of nine teams with 64 points. The home team won the meet that day by a wide margin. With tougher teams in attendance, CGD didn’t bring home many first places, but still brought home medals in several events.

               For top local finishers at this meet, Mason Allen took third in discus behind some tough competitors with a throw of 147-05. Rigo Bobadilla came in second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.82. The 4×110 Meter Shuttle Hurdle team finished third at 1:06.25 (Foss, Harrington, Gardner, State).

               Other notable finishers:

200 Meter Dash- 5th– Harrington, 24.14, 6th– Ingebritson- 24.25; 110 meter hurdles- 4th – State- 17.03; 400 meter hurdles- 6th– Rösner, 1:09.22; High jump- 5th– Foss, 5-06.00; Long jump- 7th– Zigrang, 18-02.50.

               In scoring relay team finishes: 4×100 meter relay- 6th 45.82 (Olson, State, Foss, Harrington); 4×200 meter relay-  4th 1:37.40 (Ingebritson, Foss, Olson, Greving); 4×400 meter relay- 4th 3:49.03 (Greving, Gonzalez, Ingebritson, Bobadilla); 800 sprint medley relay- 4th 1:42.43 (Gonzalez, State, Bobadilla, Greving).
