After a slower week last week, the Cowboys shared their home course on Friday against Clear Lake and St. Edmond. The home team won the day at Clarmond, shooting a 168 over CL’s 176 and St. Ed’s 208.
Jacob Moore continued his strong performances with a 38. Other Cowboys golfers- Elic Fjetland (41), Colin Kirstein (43), Cale Kirstein (46), Carson Harle (47) and Jackson Beisel (49).
“I was pretty happy about the outcome and the scores that we put up as a team,” said Coach Pat O’Brien. “Jacob Moore played excellent, and Colin Kirstein really came through with his 43. Cale struggled a little so it was nice to see a teammate cover for him.”
O’Brien was also impressed with his Junior Varsity golfers on Friday. “Landen Kakacek had a really good 45 with the JV. His personal best.” Overall for JV, team scores were: Clear Lake 193, CGD 212, St. Edmond (with only 3 players)
The coach is looking towards NCC tournament play coming up on Monday, May 9 at Fort Dodge. “We were happy to get last Friday’s meet in,” said O’Brien. “It would have been tough to find time before the NCC tournament to reschedule since we are trying to accommodate the teams that are coming to Clarmond for Sectionals with a couple of meets. Central Springs and Forest City will be here Monday and Garner-Hayfield-Ventura, North Union, and Grundy Center will be here Friday. We finish the conference regular season at Algona on Tuesday.”
