After 40 years in practice, David E. Gildner, O.D. has joined efforts with Wolfe Eye Clinic at both his Belmond and Clarion locations. The long-standing relationship with Dr. Gildner and Wolfe Eye Clinic medical doctors has made for an easy merger in which Dr. Gildner will continue to practice after the completion. Both the Clarion and Belmond locations will be branded as Wolfe Family Vision Center, joining ten other locations across the state of Iowa including Albia, Fairfield, Grundy Center, Humboldt, Sac City, Story City, Traer, Toledo, Waverly and Webster City. The merger with Wolfe Eye Clinic was effective May 1, 2022.
The main street optometry offices both in Clarion and Belmond were individual private practice locations developed by James Snively, OD and Paul Rietz, O.D. In the early 1980s, Dr. David Gildner returned to Iowa from optometry school to join them in a merged practice. Over the years, the practice has had a rich history providing quality eye care in the clinics. Following the merger, Dr. Gildner will focus his time on the Belmond office, as he and the team excitedly welcome new Wolfe provider Megan Petersen, O.D. into the Clarion office. Both locations will continue to offer the same high-quality care and friendly atmosphere the communities have come to expect.
An Algona native, Dr. Petersen received her Bachelor of Science degree with a major in biology from the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, Iowa. She went on to earn her Doctor of Optometry degree from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee where she completed her residency.
Dr. Petersen spent 11 years practicing in the Des Moines and Ames area before joining Wolfe in 2022 to provide care to patients in the Webster City and Clarion communities. She provides routine family eye care services including eye exams, prescribing eyewear and contact lenses. Dr. Petersen is skilled in the treatment and medical management of many ocular diseases including cataract, glaucoma, and retinal conditions.
