Heartland Museum hosts Webster City sixth graders

Heartland Museum hosted a field trip for Webster City sixth graders on May 11 and 12. This event was attended by 99 children plus their chaperones.  The day included a scavenger hunt, where the students searched through the museum to answer questions.  Break out sessions included “Prairie Medicine Woman” given by Sonna Johnson from Goldfield, old fashioned games by Cindy Riley, Milissa Katschke and Daisy Kinison, rope-making with Maurice Riley, Doug Riley, and Bud Chapman, time at the 4-H schoolhouse with Judy Kirstein, and discussion of hitching a horse by Melanie Maasdam.  Volunteers and board members from Heartland Museum staffed the field trip.

Heartland Museum is preparing to be open Monday-Saturday, 10 am – 4pm starting May 28.
