It’s Quality Over Quantity for CGD Cowgirl Track

Monty Harker long-time Clarion Goldfield Dows girls track coach had this to say about his 2023 Cowgirl squad.

“Well, this is one of the smallest teams I have had.  But a very good group of returning seniors will help us a lot.  The conference will be ruled again by Clear Lake.  They just have way too many good girls and can dominate most events.  Other than that, it is fairly even.  We should do fine in the hurdle events and field events.  Maybe put together a relay or two.  But we aren’t going into any meets trying to win them.  Our goal will be to peak at districts and take as many events to state as we can.  I think many of the girls can qualify in multiple events if they keep working hard. Makayla should do well in the high jump and any hurdle events we put her in.  Mackenna Hasty returns after having to take a year off for a surgery.  Both her and Kennedy Trca should do well in the long jump and Kennedy is the returning conference champ in the 100 hurdles.  We are trying to put together a solid shuttle hurdle with 3 returning members from las years state team.  We are hoping Kennedy Jackson can step in and be that fourth.  We had a good saying on our shirts last year and it will still old true this year, I would rather have quality over quantity any day.”
