Dows, IA – The Braun family hosted 'Cruisin for a Cause' on Saturday, September 16, in Dows. This event raises funds for the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa. Ava Braun, the Braun's daughter has led in collecting the most donations nationwide for the past four years and is pictured in front. Standing from left to right in the back are Kyle and Jodi Braun, along with their other daughter, Josie, as well as Kathy and Lynn Braun, Ava's grandparents. The Brauns have organized this event for the last six years, with support from local businesses and the general public who donate items for the Auction and Silent Auction.
The Dows Legion served dinner, which was part of the registration fee for the cars that participated in the cruise. This year's cruise started in Dows and traveled through Clarmond CC, Britt, LuVerne, Eagle Grove, Alden, and back to Dows. All donations go to the Spina Bifida Association of Iowa to assist those in need.
On September 30, all sponsors will gather in Des Moines for a Walk and Roll and present their donations to the Association. The Braun family stated that they raised close to $23,000 for this cause. It was an enjoyable event for all participants, and the funds raised will benefit many individuals affected by Spina Bifida.
