CGD Students Think Outside the Box in recent Play “After Hours”

“Ray! That Mannequin just looked at me!” A woman stated, mouth agape.

Ray replied, “Um, I think it is time to get you home!”

“I’m serious! The one with the purse…It looked RIGHT AT ME!”

So starts an interesting evening for a retail shop, where mannequins come alive while their owner closes shop for the night. Clarion-Goldfield-Dows students put on the play, “After Hours” by Kevin Stone this last weekend. The cast consisted of Middle School students and High School students.

CGD Senior, Emma Sadler, has been involved in the theater department for her entire high school career. She played LuAnn, a sarcastic store mannequin. Sadler took a moment to speak with the Wright County Monitor about her involvement in the theater department at CGD.

“Being part of the theater is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I have enjoyed making new friends, as well as becoming closer to the ones I already have. There is always something to laugh about. It’s always a lot of fun, even if it can be stressful. It’s all worth it in the end.”

Sadler offers the following advice to her under-classmates: “It’s worth it to get out of your comfort zone. Audition for the play! Audition for the musical! Even if you have a small role, it will be some of the most fun you’ve ever had.”
