Republican Incumbent and Challengers Vie for 4th District Representation

As the 2024 election cycle is underway, Iowa’s four Republican candidates have filed for re-election.

The United States House of Representatives and the United States Senate make up the two chambers of our National Congress. The House has 435 members. Population determines the number of representatives each state has. 

 

Iowa has 4 State Representatives. Wright County falls in the 4th district and is currently represented by Randy Feenstra. The 4th district in Iowa has voted Republican heavily in most primary elections. 

 

Republican Randy Feenstra took office in 2021. He is seeking reelection. He serves on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. Republican Kevin Virgil is a father, a veteran, an entrepreneur, a fifth-generation Iowan, and a former CIA case officer. Virgil shared with Sioux Center News that attempts to use eminent domain against landowners spurred him to pursue the political landscape. Virgil is running in opposition Feenstra. Democrat Ryan Melto lives in Nevada and works as an insurance supervisor. “We need to fund Iowa schools and provide adequate pay, resources, and support to our teachers,” the Democrat shared.
