Soccer Season is Underway!

Last Thursday, the Wright County United boys and girls teams had a chance to show their skills on the pitch in the first soccer action of 2024.

The boys traveled to Garner-Hayfield-Ventura to take on a Cardinal team that managed to beat them twice in 2023, but United midfielder Andy Rivera’s stellar play led his team to their first win of the fresh season. The junior had a goal and an assist in the 2-1 victory. Freshman forward Christopher Duerte also had a goal. Goalkeeper Santiago De Leon Juarez did his part with 7 saves in 80 minutes of playing time.

On the girls side, the ladies were unable to score at home against the visiting Cardinals. Garner-Hayfield-Ventura defeated the United 10-0.

You can catch both teams in action again on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. The boys face off against Humboldt on the 4th and West Marshall on the 5th. Both matches will be played at Belmond-Klemme High School. They then travel to Postville High School for a Saturday morning matchup. The ladies have a road match on Thursday at Humboldt High School and return home to play Aplington-Parkersburg on Friday.
