The Wright County boys and girls soccer clubs clashed with the Clear Lake Lions last Monday in Cerro Gordo County.
The boys squad, fresh off a 3-2 victory over Iowa Falls-Alden, would struggle to convert in the first half against the Lions. Freshman Ruben Guido scored the lone goal in the 7-1 loss. Ty Franklin assisted Guido’s goal. The team now sits at 3-3 midway into the season.
The girls would also have difficulty finding the net against Clear Lake. Goalkeeper Nadia Kaiser had 10 saves for Wright County, but the team lost 2-0 at Lions Field after giving up two second half goals.
