The Wanderlust is Strong with this One

From a tender age, I realized I yearned to see the world. In the latest chapter of my life, I have discovered that travel runs deep through my blood, urging me to seek adventure.

It may sound strange and fantastical to have an insatiable craving for traveling, but remember that I said this desire started at a young age? I was fascinated by Ancient Greece and Rome, King Arthur, Cleopatra, and countless other historical topics.

My parents nurtured my adolescent mind with books about faraway places, and I quickly became enraptured by tales of history. I dreamt of visiting the bustling City of New York, exploring ancient ruins in Rome, admiring the charming English countryside, and discovering my heritage in Japan—big plans for a small-town girl from the Midwest.

Meanwhile, across town, there was a young boy, destined to become my husband and

co-traveler for life, who dreamt similar dreams of exploring the world. Together, we have driven across England, explored ancient ruins in Greece, stood on the Colosseum Arena floor in Rome, and introduced our son to the vast country we call home. The list goes on and on.

In the unfortunate year of 2020, I embarked on creating our family travel blog, Finding Harrahdise, fueled by the desire to tell the stories of each location we have visited. I have tried my best to document as many travel adventures as possible. Still, life is full of chaos, and there is always something more important to do. The blog has changed over the years, and so have our traveling strategies.

In the meantime, we are checking items off our Bucket List, such as climbing mountains, exploring natural caves, and purchasing a vacation home. We want to set an example for our son that dreams are achievable.

It all started with a book. Whose pages drew me in with tales of distant lands and promises of adventures. Little did I know then that picking up that book would change my life forever.

With summer just around the corner, reading books with your children is more important than ever. Reminding your child to read for half an hour daily will help exercise their minds. Still, more importantly, it can open their eyes to the possibilities and power of reading.
