Gregory A. Riekens, age 60, of Shakopee, MN, formerly of Clarion, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 29, 2024 at his home.
Greg was born on August 24, 1964, in Clarion, IA, the son of James and Dorothy (Wilimek) Riekens. He graduated from Clarion-Goldfield High School in 1982, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wisconsin. He was a writer for newspapers in Cascade, IA and Huron, SD, and prior to retirement worked as a collections agent for Emerson.
Greg was very passionate about photography, and the outdoors where he enjoyed exploring local and regional areas. He also enjoyed collecting antiques.
Greg is survived by his sister, Michelle (Tim) Tiedeman. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation Monday, December 9, 2024, from 9:30-11 AM, followed by Funeral Service at 11 AM, at McNearney-Schmidt Funeral and Cremation, 1220 3rd Avenue East, Shakopee, MN, 952-445-2755. Interment Elmwood-St. Joseph Cemetery, Mason City, IA.
Greg would have preferred memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, V Foundation, Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, or Twin Cities Public Television.
