The Knee-High Naturalists program offers young children the opportunity to engage with nature through hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and environmental awareness. Each monthly session is free to attend, though parental supervision is required.

In May’s “Wiggling Worms” program, participants will learn about earthworms and other creatures that live in the soil. Through interactive activities, children will explore how worms help the environment and why they are important to healthy ecosystems.

Organized by Franklin and Wright County Naturalist Aubrey Brown, the event encourages families to foster a love of the outdoors from an early age. Interested families are asked to register in advance by completing the Knee-High Naturalist “Wiggling Worms” form online. Registration opened on April 24 and will run through May 23 at 11:59 p.m.

Reservations and additional information are available by contacting Aubrey Brown at 641-531-9475 or by email at naturalist.franklin.wright@gmail.com.

Program highlights include story times, science labs, and interactive nature activities. The event promises a fun and educational morning for young explorers and their families.
