Across the U.S. people have been speaking out against plans to change and possibly privatize the U.S Postal Service. Their concern? That it could lead to job cuts, higher postage prices, and worse service, especially in rural areas.
On March 20, postal workers and supporters joined a nationwide “Day of Action” in over 150 cities. In large cities, hundreds showed up. But even small town citizens showed up in support.
In Belmond, three women, Nancy Duitscher (Clarion), Kathy Schnell (Belmond), and Gwen Buseman Harvey (Belmond), stood outside their post office in protest. They shared concerns that the government’s plan could hurt their community.
The small protest is part of a bigger message, Americans want to keep the postal service public… and strong.
