The Cowboy baseball team came out victorious in both games of a doubleheader last Monday night in Fort Dodge, pushing their overall season record above .500.

In the first game against their conference foes from St. Edmond, the Cowboys got on top 3-0 in the top of the 2nd, but the Gaels turned around and tied things up in the bottom of the same frame.

After two scoreless innings, first baseman Chaz Lane broke the tie with an RBI single and put his team up for good.

Owen Sweeney would notch another win after pitching five innings, striking out five, and walking three.

Shortstop Jacob Ruba went 2-for-3 with two singles, and fellow middle infielder Tristan Kakacek had a single, an RBI, and three stolen bases.

The second contest would also be decided by a single run, but the Cowboys again managed to come out unscathed.

There were several lead changes throughout the first six innings, but Lane was once again the hero for the red and black.  The sophomore stud went 3-for-4 with two doubles, four RBIs, and had a go-ahead RBI single in the 7th inning that helped guide the Cowboys to an 8-7 triumph.

Ruba and Caleb Sweeney shared pitching duties, with the latter earning the win.  Ruba struck out four and walked none in 4.1 innings.

Ruba, Ethan Hasty, Huxley Lingenfelter, Owen Sweeney, and Paxton Lingenfelter all singled in the second game as C-G-D improved to 2-4 in conference play and 5-4 overall.
