The Clarion-Goldfield-Dows softball team had a busy week last week, with four games in five days.

Three of the games were against North Central Conference opponents, and the Cowgirls were on the road at Lions Field in Clear Lake on Monday night.  The game was called early after the Lions scored thirteen runs in the first three innings.

Tess Wibholm pitched 2.1 innings, walking nine and striking out one, and second baseman Adelynn Howell had a single for the red and black.

After a day of practice, the girls were back at it Wednesday night in Clarion against 1-2 Iowa Falls-Alden.  Down 6-0, the Cowgirls stormed back with four runs in the bottom of the 5th and nearly completed the comeback in the bottom of the 7th before falling short, 6-5.

Wibholm led the charge with a single, a double, and two RBIs, and pitched seven innings with five K’s.

Graclyn Bremmer added a single and two RBIs, and Adelynn Howell had a triple, an RBI, and two runs.  Kayla Hasty got on base with a double, and senior speedster Madison Ingebritson stole three bags.

After the heartbreaking but promising loss, the Cowgirls would fall 8-0 to #4 (2A) West Fork on Thursday and 12-2 to the Algona Bulldogs on Friday.
