Naig visits the Wright County Fair

by Amanda Rink, Editor

Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig stopped by the Wright County Fair on Wednesday, July 9, as part of his annual tour of all 99 Iowa counties. During his visit, he chatted with fair board members, a Wright County Supervisor, mingled with fairgoers, and met with 4-H and FFA students while checking out their livestock exhibits and projects.

In a written statement to The Wright County Monitor, Naig shared: “I had the pleasure of visiting the Wright County Fair in Eagle Grove on Wednesday, July 9. I enjoyed a great tour of the very nice grounds led by dedicated Fair Board members, and I appreciate the work these volunteers put into this event throughout the year.

The highlight was the opportunity to visit and interact with 4-Hers and FFA students and to see their impressive projects and exhibits that showcase their hard work and talent. I was also pleased to connect with State Representative Mark Thompson and welcomed the opportunity to hear directly from fairgoers about the issues that matter to them. Iowa’s county fairs are wonderful family and community events that bring people together to celebrate our state’s rich agricultural heritage.

Our county fairs are a testament to the strength and vitality of Iowa’s rural communities. In addition to attending all 11 days of the Iowa State Fair, I always enjoy visiting several county fairs throughout the summer, and I am glad I could make a visit to the Wright County Fair this year.”
