After the first month of school, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Superintendent Joe Nelson says the district continues to learn and adapt as they offer education in the midst of COVID. To share information with the community about how that process is going, Nelson again answered some burning questions.
How many COVID cases has the district had thus far?
During the month school, we’ve had 4 positive cases (as of press-time on Tuesday)
In July, district guidelines stated staff and students would not have to quarantine if they were wearing a PPE while being exposed to a positive COVID case. That guideline changed just before school started. Meaning, wearing a PPE does not exempt a staff member or student from being quarantined after they have been exposed to a positive case. How did that guideline change?
Wright County Public Health sets the Health and Safety Guidelines for all Wright County Public Schools. In July, Wright County Public Health initially supported keeping exposed students at school if they were wearing a PPE, but after more consultation at the state level, WCPH changed their position just before school started.
I travel to various schools in and out of Wright County for sports/activities and I see different COVID-19 control rules applied everywhere. Why are we wearing PPE and other schools are not?
Our local Doctors have been clear and consistent from the start of our conversations about the importance of wearing PPE.
