Jergenson, Martinez and Foss lead final football season stats

This year’s Cowboy football team compiled 703 total rushing yards, 695 total passing yards and made 335 total defensive tackles with 175 of those as solo efforts.

Trenton Jergenson was the leading ground gainer with 100 carries for 341 yards and eight touchdowns. Nevan Foss had 60 carries for 318 yards and two scores, Shane Conlon 34 totes of the ball for 52 yards and two TD’s, Cale Kirstein 10 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown and Coady Olson two carries for 12 yards.

Conlon threw for 667 yards on 51 of 141 passes for six touchdowns and 14 interceptions. He finished with a 75.9 efficiency rating. Christian Gaytan completed one of four passes for 25 yards in a relief role, and had a 77.5 rating. Mateo Martinez completed one of one for three yards. Top target was Martinez with 15 catches for 278 yards and three TD’s. Olson was not far behind with 17 catches for 252 yards. Jaxon Carpenter caught six balls for 56 yards and one score, Jergenson five for 32 yards and Bryce Allen three for 29 yards with two for scores. Aiden Harrington caught two passes for 19 yards, Foss two for 16 yards and Gavin Wilson three for 13 total yards.

Brayan Gomez kicked off 17 times for 744 yards and a 44.0 average. Artemio Gonzalez kicked 11 times for 444 yards and a 40.4 average. Gaytan kicked off twice for 110 yards. Kain Nelson booted 27 punts for 878 yards and a 32.5 average.

Foss ran back 19 kicks for 263 total yards and finished with a 13.8-yard average. Martinez returned 12 kicks for 210 yards and a 17.5-yard average. Kirstein returned three kicks for 27 yards and Olson one kick for 13 yards. Harrington fielded six punts for 48 return yards and a 8.0 average per return. Martinez grabbed one punt for 27 yards and Foss one for 10 yards of gain.

Final tackle numbers show Foss with 70.0 total and 35 of those as solo stops. Reed Abbas made 51.5 total with 30 as solo tackles. Allen made 34.0 total with 17 as solo efforts. Jergenson had 26.0 total and 13 solo’s. Harrington had 21.0 total and 11 as solo tackles. Nelson had 20.0 total with 15 as solo stops. Kirstein made 18.0 total and nine as solo. Preston Gardner made 17.5 total and 12 as solo efforts. Camden Hansen had 13.0 total and six as solo’s.

Olson had 12.5 total and seven as solo’s. Martinez had 10.5 total and eight as solo tackles. Eric Perez had 10.5 total with three as solo stops. Mason Allen had 6.0 total with two as solo. Luis Delacruz had 5.0 total and one as solo. Daniel Chavez, Nik Christopherson and Garrett Seaba all had 4.5 total, with Chavez making three as solo tackles and the others one each. Rafael Jimenez made 4.0 total with one solo, and Jaxon Carpenter 2.0 total with none as solo’s. Abbas had 4.5 sacks and Nelson 3.5, followed by Chavez with one and Foss, J. Carpenter, Jergenson and Allen all credited with a half-sack each.  Nelson led in tackles for loss with 14.5, followed in the top three by Foss with 9.0 and Abbas with 6.0.

Abbas recovered four fumbles for 70 total yards of gain and two TD’s. Foss grabbed one for a 25-yard score, with Perez pouncing on two and both Martinez and Nelson one each for no gain. Martinez picked off two opposition passes for nine total yards, with J. Carpenter grabbing one for a huge 38-yard return. Landon Olson stepped in front of one ball for five yards, with Foss and Gardner each getting one for no gain.
