First in a Christmas series of 4 articles
For most people, the holidays will be celebrated differently this year. The good news? We can all still celebrate!
Marcie Broderson, owner and operator of Main Street Style and youngest of six girls, enjoyed a quiet Thanksgiving Day this year. “It was my husband, Bill; our daughters, Chloe and Kelsie plus my mom and dad (John and Shirley Lager),” she said.
Rarely does the whole family celebrate together on either Thanksgiving or Christmas. “When we get together, it is generally at my house, sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas,” Broderson said, “and we have more than 30 of us.”
The Broderson and Lager families still don’t know for sure what they will be doing for Christmas this year, but they know the ‘bigger party’ won’t happen this year.
Marcie shares with Monitor readers a family favorite. “Quite often when we all get together, each one of us girls bring a crock pot of soup,” she said. “Mine is ‘Easy Chicken Noodle Soup.’ It’s always requested and is the first one to be gone!”
Easy Chicken Noodle Soup
Cook 1- 24 oz. package of Reames frozen noodles. Microwave 1 package of frozen California mix veggies. (After it’s cooked, I save the carrots and mash up the broccoli and cauliflower.)
Add:
-cooked noodles
-cooked veggies
-2 large cans of Swanson chicken with juice
-1- 49 oz. can of Swanson chicken broth.
Cook until a soft boil. Then have 2 tbsp flour and ¾ cup of milk mixed up. Stir that in and add 2 tsp chicken flavoring. Bring to a soft boil again.
