CGD wrestlers have some good seniors to build around

Dan Gabrielson begins his fourth season as Cowboy wrestling head coach, and brings back a team with nice potential as no less than eight seniors anchor the lineup.

Tyler Stein rode off into the sunset after taking eighth at state to finish his year, but Reed Abbas does return after picking up 42 wins on his way to seventh in his state bracket. He is joined in that class by Kaeden Langfitt, Remi Hanson (28 wins), Bryce Allen, Rafael Jimenez, Christian Gaytan, Camden Hanson and Kain Nelson (31 wins). Remi, Camden and Kain were all district qualifiers who will look to finish their season in Des Moines this time around.

Junior Garrett Seaba also went to state but did not place, and took 39 wins a year ago. He is joined in that class by Danny Chavez. Sophomores include district qualifier Cale Kirstein, Rigo Bobadilla, Ethan Traub, Mack Seaba and Erick Perez.

The coach lists his projected varsity lineup as follows: 106-Bobadilla; 113-Langfitt; 120-Traub; 126-Traub or Kirstein; 132-Kirstein or R. Hanson; 138-R. Hanson or Abbas; 145-Abbas or Allen; 152-Allen, G. Seaba or M. Seaba; 160-M. Seaba or G. Seaba; 170-Jimenez; 182-Gaytan; 195-Gaytan, Perez or C. Hanson; 220-C. Hanson or Nelson; heavyweight-Chavez or Nelson.
