Titans sweep Manson-Northwest Webster on Senior Night
Regardless of sport, the Battle of Calhoun County – the rivalry between South Central Calhoun and Manson-Northwest Webster – is known as a showcase of intrigue and talent rising to the occasion.
This time around, the latest bout on the volleyball court between the Titans and the Cougars was one sided. The side that prevailed in this rivalry match was the squad decked in purple, black and white.
The South Central Calhoun volleyball team proved too much for their competition, cruising past Manson-Northwest Webster by way of a 3-0 decision in a Twin Lakes Conference clash that took place last Thursday evening at the SCC High School Gymnasium in Lake City.
SCC jumped out to a comfortable lead in the first set and never looked back against the Cougars, winning the match with scores of 25-12, 25-16 and 25-12.
From the victory, the Titans extended their recent winning streak to three matches and improved to 24-11 overall with a 9-1 mark in the TLC. The Cougars fell to 6-8 overall with a 3-7 record in TLC play.
The Titans also remain within striking distance of a regular season title, trailing conference leader East Sac County (20-6, 10-0 TLC) by one game.
SCC will have their chance at claiming another regular season conference crown, facing off against the No. 13-ranked (Class 2A) Raiders at 7 p.m. on Thursday evening at the ESC High School Gymnasium in Lake View.
The Titans will also look to avenge a loss sustained in their previous meeting with East Sac County earlier this season, which took place during the “Master Blaster” Tournament on Sept. 14 in Rockwell City.
