Maya Jackson of Clarion performed in two percussion bands recently at Central College. One group was the 21-person Percussion Ensemble and Dutch Boom Drumline who joined to perform drum cadences, marimba quartets, solo marimba music and an original composition featuring cymbals, gongs and tam-tams in a show called "An Evening of Percussion Music."
The other was a 15-student group called the Flying Pans Steel Band. The band shared a “Caribbean Christmas,” performing Christmas classics with a tropical twist, including "Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night" and Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizards in Winter." Both of these events were recorded and can be viewed at central.edu/fine-arts.
Jackson is a 2018 CGD graduate and the daughter of Terri and Jay.
