Cowboy wrestlers defeat Bulldogs, Wildcats and Gaels in NCC action

The C-G-D wrestling team met up with Hampton-Dumont/CAL last Tuesday on the Bulldogs home mat, taking a 46-25 win back home with them. The dual opened at 113 with loss by Kaeden Langfitt. Ethan Traub (120) then turned things around with a fall in 2:26. Following a Bulldog pin, Cale Kirstein (132) put points on their side of the board with an 8-7 win utilizing two takedowns and two reversals. Jackson Beisel (138) tied the dual score with a 9-2 win, followed by Reed Abbas barely on the mat at all in taking a 17 second pin win to put them ahead.

One match later, Bryce Allen’s (160) 16-6 major decision included three takedowns and two near-falls. Garrett Seaba (170) pinned his man in 1:53 to put the Cowboys comfortably in front 34-16. Christian Gaytan (182) scored a fall in 3:26, Camden Hanson (220) a fall in 2:28 and Kain Nelson (285) a fall in :53 to close it out. Luke Brownell and Mason Allen won for the JV team.

They traveled to Humboldt last Thursday to take on the home team and St. Edmond. They defeated the Wildcats in a squeaker 36-30, and easily disposed of the short-handed Gaels by a 72-2 score.

Allen (152) won by fall in 4:40, while Rafael Jimenez (170) did the same in 2:35 and Nelson pinned his man in just one minute flat. Seaba (160) won by a major decision 13-4 using six takedowns to pile up the points, and Traub won by a 21-6 technical fall with four takedowns and eight more points on near-falls. Other winners by decisions included Abbas 7-4, Gaytan 12-7 and Erick Perez (195) 6-4.

JV winners by falls included Mason Allen, Niklas Christopherson, Nash Lienemann and Luis Delacruz. Reed Reiland won by a 15-12 score and Christopherson by a 7-6 final.

Versus the Gaels, Jimenez recorded the fastest fall in 29 seconds to barely break a sweat. Perez was equally impressive in pinning his man in 32 seconds. Beisel won in 1:51 and Gaytan in 1:15. Winning by forfeit were Hanson, Daniel Chavez (285), Langfitt, Ricardo Gaytan (126), Kirstein, Abbas, Allen and G. Seaba.
