Dear CGD Staff and Families,
As we approach the Christmas Holiday, I'd like to express my deepest appreciation for everyone in our CGD communities who make our school system truly special. During what most would describe as "challenging times" we've come together to support our students, their families, and the greater Clarion-Goldfield-Dows community throughout this pandemic.
First off, THANK YOU to our families for trusting us and working alongside our schools as we navigate the uncertainty that COVID-19 has brought to all of our lives. We recognize this school year has been far from business as usual for our teachers, students, and families. To that end, we've worked together to make the best of our situation by offering school to each of our students every day since school began on August 24th.
None of this would've been possible without the extensive flexibility and dedication of our 175 CGD employees. I can't thank everyone enough for stepping up to support our students and families during this time of crisis in our State and Nation. Our classrooms continue to be the safest place for our kids and I'm incredibly grateful to work in a district that supports that mission each day.
In my efforts to recognize the many extra hours spent by our staff at night and on the weekend, I will be offering our staff and students one additional day off from school during our upcoming Christmas Break. School will now be dismissed for Christmas Break on Tuesday, December 22nd at our regular dismissal time. Classes will resume after Christmas Break on Monday, January 4th, 2021.
It doesn't matter what role you play in our district as an employee, parent, or student, please know you are valued and important. I'm proud to work in our school district and I continue to believe our best days are ahead.
Merry Christmas,
Mr. Nelson
