Cowboy wrestlers defeat Iowa Falls-Alden

The Cowboy wrestling team wrapped up their conference schedule by downing Iowa Falls-Alden last Tuesday 58-13 on the Cadets home mat. This win gave them yet another conference duals championship.

Action started at 182 pounds as Erick Perez won by forfeit. Following two straight Cadet wins the home team had a 7-6 lead, only to see 285-pound Danny Chavez take a forfeit win to put the ‘Boys back up 12-7. That seemed to ignite a string of four straight wins as they built a nice 31-7 advantage. Rigo Bobadilla (106) took an 11-7 win on three takedowns and two near-falls. Kaeden Langfitt (113) followed with a fall in 2:13, with Ethan Traub (120) taking a 13-4 major in the next match as he used on less than six takedowns on his way to a dominating performance.

At 126, Cale Kirstein stuck his man in 2:10. Following a Cowboy loss at 132, Reed Abbas hit the mat and scored a pin in 3:22. The Cowboys would not lose again the rest of the way, as Remi Hanson (145) won by fall in 1:47 and Mack Seaba (152) took a 9-5 win by using a reversal, near-fall and takedown and all for two points each. Garrett Seaba (160) won by fall in 1:53, and Bryce Allen (170) closed it out with a win by forfeit.

JV winners included Luke Brownell (two falls in 4:31 and 3:19), Nik Christopherson (fall in :46), Reid Huntley (fall in 1:33) and Rafael Jimenez (falls in3:43 and 3:05).
