Kindergarteners collect over 100 food pantry items to celebrate 100 days of school

Last week, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Kindergarten students celebrated the 100th day of school by participating in a Service-Learning project for the community. The goal was to collect 100 items for the local food bank. CGD Kindergarten Teacher Anne Ries said about the project, “Given the pandemic and how many families are struggling, the decision was made to give back in some way to our community. The kids loved the idea and jumped on board collecting over 160 items. At this age it’s really about showing them different ways they can give back and make a difference in their community. Hopefully this has inspired them and leaves a lasting impact. The kids were so proud of how much food they raised, that they surpassed their goal of 100 items, and that they were helping so many families during this time of need.” The local food pantry also appreciated the initiative. First Lutheran Food Pantry Director Hannah Johnson said, “Thank you CGD Kindergartners for collecting food for First Lutherans Food Pantry! Your service to others and kind hearts are inspiring!” Photo provided
