Coach Ennis gives out awards, recognitions for season

The Cowgirl basketball awards banquet was held March 9 at Fuel. The following were the varsity team award winners: Dynamite Defender, Hustle Award – Emma Conlon; Best Practice Player, Most Coachable – Alaina Friesleben; Most Versatile Player, Shot Blocker Award – Jadyn Jondle; Best off the Bench, Most Motivated Player – Emma Keller; MVP Award, Perfect Passer Award, Pocket Picker Award – Raven Kinnetz; Comeback Player, Don’t Sleep On Me Offensive Player – Kendall Lienemann; Queen of the Boards, Hot Shot Award – Morgan Middleton; Best Attitude, Love of the Game – Nicole Waters; Most Improved Player, Best Hops – Lexie Lane.

In other banquet notes, Middleton not only led the NCC in field goal percentage (65.7) but also led class 3A with 70.7 percent for all games and was second in that stat statewide (all classes). Raven Kinnetz was named to 3A Northeast District Team for the Iowa Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA), and was joined by Alaina Friesleben and Emma Keller on the Academic All-State team named by the Iowa Girls’ Coaches’ Association (IGCA).

Raven also made the IBCA Academic All-State Team. According to Ennis, 30 senior girls across the entire state were chosen from over 90 seniors nominated. Those who made the team had an average 4.02 GPA and a 14.9 ppg average. 12 of them ranked either first or second in their class, with Raven currently ranked first in the Class of 20-21. She has been chosen to play in both the IBCA Senior All-Star Game March 28 in Johnson and the IGCA Senior All-Star Game April 10-11 in Cedar Rapids.
