Iowa State University Extension and Outreach Week is April 12-17. Iowa’s 100 county extension offices will host activities throughout the week to thank Iowans for their support of extension efforts throughout the state.
“The challenges of the past year changed how ISU Extension and Outreach serves Iowans, but not why: We want a strong Iowa. We are here for you now and always,” said Sarah Merrifield, Regional Director.
“This celebration is one way we say thank you to the many volunteers, community leaders, organizations, agencies and other partners who support our work in Wright County,” Missy Loux, Program Coordinator said.
Conservation Sunday- Visit Wright County Conservation areas, participate in a photo scavenger hunt, and win prizes! Site locations and scavenger hunt list is available on the website.
Master Gardener Monday- Free Garden Soil Fertility Workshop April 12, 3-4pm at the First Lutheran Church in Clarion. Register by the end of day April 8 by calling Missy at 515-532-3453.
Terrific Tuesday- Participate in an act of kindness and share what you choose to do on Wright County Extension social media pages.
Wellness Wednesday- View workout videos and virtual food demos on Wright County Extension social media pages.
Thankful Thursday- Submit hand drawn art of what you are most thankful for on plain paper with markers, crayons, or colored pencils to the Extension Office at 2302 Madison Ave Suite B in Clarion by April 9 to win prizes! Winner announced April 15. Age brackets include: K-1st, 2nd-3rd, 4-6th, 7-8th, High School, and Adults. Write your name, age bracket, and phone number on the back of your artwork.
Pay it Forward Friday- Drop off unopened food items at the Extension Office all week to be delivered to local food pantries.
Story Walk Saturday- Visit local businesses in Belmond, Clarion, and Eagle Grove for an outdoor family story walk. Book and starting locations are available on the Wright County Extension website.
“ISU Extension and Outreach engages Iowans in solving today’s problems and planning for tomorrow. We will continue finding new ways to deliver research-based education and information to Iowans,” Loux said.
