The Cowboy track & field team hosted the annual Cowboy Relays last Friday, with Forest City taking the class A title with 213 points. They were followed by Hampton-Dumont/CAL with 130, Iowa Falls-Alden with 124, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura with 54 and the Cowboys with 52 points. St. Edmond won the class B team title.
Highlights for the home crowd included Mateo Martinez winning the 100 dash in 11.74, with both the shuttle hurdle relay and the 4×2 crossing in first as well. A handful of runner-up finishes also made for a good team effort.
They made the short trip to Eagle Grove last Tuesday for the Umstead Relays. Humboldt won Class A with 158 points, followed in order by: Webster City 131, Forest City 109, Hampton-Dumont/CAL 61, Iowa Falls-Alden 56, Algona 50, Garner-Hayfield/Ventura 13 and CGD 10.
Cowboy highlights included Rigo Bobadilla taking third in 55.44 in the 400, with teammate Jacob Ingebritson fifth in 56.86. Isaiah Nebbe was seventh in 11:50.00 in the 3200, while Nevan Foss cleared 5’ 6” for that same final spot in the high jump.
