Middle school principal receives statewide recognition

Steve Haberman, Clarion-Goldfield-Dows Middle School Principal, was a finalist for the 2021 Iowa Middle Level Principal of the Year award. “We are pleased to recognize school leaders who are committed to excellence in education,” said Dr. Roark Horn, Executive Director of School Administrators of Iowa (SAI).

Haberman previously received the award in 2007 and was again nominated by his peers. He will be recognized at this year's SAI annual conference in August.

Middle level principal in the district since 1999, Haberman began his career in education as a middle school teacher at Hampton-Dumont Community School district. He earned his bachelor's degree in elementary education and master’s in education administration from the University of Northern Iowa.

CGD Superintendent Joe Nelson said about Haberman, “After 20+ years of leadership at Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, Steve still brings high energy and passion to our district every day. This is a fantastic honor for a great leader!”
