At the Tuesday, May 4 meeting of the Clarion City Council, the group held the second reading of the revised sump pump ordinance. According to the ordinance, “No discharge pipe shall discharge onto any of the City’s rights-of-way, sidewalks and/or streets.” The second reading was passed and as there were no comments submitted before or during the meeting, the third reading of it was waived. The ordinance was then officially adopted.
Bud Young from Sumners Insurance Agency gave the yearly presentation on the city’s insurance renewal. The council scheduled a public hearing for budget amendments on May 25. They also rescheduled their next regular meeting for that day rather than May 18. Publication requirements for the hearing made the schedule change necessary.
Nuisance officer Ted Knutson reminded everyone that they will be citing people for not mowing grass. The city ordinance states that in developed residential, business, and industrial areas, grass cannot exceed eight inches.

City Attorney Zach Chizek said he had not gotten any communications back from Daybreak Foods officials regarding removing the corn stalks left at the spec building. The city will now most likely work on a way to handle the matter with the county.
