Clear Lake claimed the girl’s team title at the NCC Tournament last Monday in Mason City. The Lions finished at 355 total strokes, followed by Humboldt at a 387, Iowa Falls-Alden at 400 and Clarion-Goldfield-Dows at 424. Nora Carlson of Humboldt was the individual champion with a 76.
Tessa Warnke posted a low of 103 to lead the Cowgirls, with Karina Torres, Sawyer Morrical and Nicole Waters all bunched up at 107. Delia Swanson shot a 115 and Lauren Brooks at 117 to round out the red & black scoring.
“This was their best score of the year,” stated a pleased coach Denny March.
They followed that by also taking fourth in the Forest City Invitational on Friday. Clear Lake also won that with a 371, followed by Mason City at 393, Charles City at 435, the Cowgirls at 453, Algona at 457 and the host Indians at 488. Waters finished as low scorer this time with a 108, followed by Morrical at 111, Torres at 114, Emily Christensen at 120 and Brooks at 121.
