With three players in double figures, and the score knotted at 58-58 entering the final quarter, the Cowboys had a great chance for a home victory versus Iowa Falls-Alden last Tuesday. It never came, as the Cadets pulled out to just enough cushion to hold on down the stretch for a 72-68 win over the red & black.
Connor State poured in 24 points on 11 of 15 from the field. Coady Olson canned four treys in getting 16 total points, while Christian Gaytan chipped in 12 points with two three-pointers included. Mateo Martinez and Jaxon Carpenter scored seven points each and Aiden Harrington a bucket to round it out. Gaytan finished with eight rebounds, six defensively, to lead that column. Martinez, Harrington and State all got their mitts on four caroms each, with Olson and Carpenter grabbing three apiece and Cael Chase one.
Carpenter dished the pumpkin for no less than nine assists. Gaytan made seven assists for his teammates, with Martinez and Olson at two apiece and State one. Gaytan and Carpenter picked pockets for two steals each, with Martinez, Harrington and State all at one each. State came up big with four blocked shots, with Carpenter adding two from his spot on the floor.
The team did win their next game, which was a 66-61 victory at Humboldt. Stats for that game were not yet posted on quikstats.com.
