As you read in last week’s story on coach Steve Terhark, “these girls want to win” he said. Following the action from the second week of the season, the ladies will simply have to manufacture more runs to make that possible.
Their high water mark for the week came in a 15-3 loss at Humboldt on Wednesday. Kennedy Trca, Mady Hennigar and Kaylie Dow all crossed the plate, with Dow ripping a double to bring in one of those runs. Alaina Friesleben and Nyla Wibholm both worked in the circle, with Alaina allowing six earned runs on three hits with five walks and four K’s over three innings. Nyla gave up one earned on one hit with two walks and a strikeout in a portion of an inning.
Prior to that game, they took on South Hamilton on Tuesday in Jewell and lost 11-1 as Dow pounded out two base hits for the only offense. Lienemann scored the lone run in the top of the first, and had a stolen base. Trca drew a free pass. Friesleben pitched four innings, allowing one earned on six hits with three K’s. Wibholm also saw some time in the circle.
They hosted West Fork on Thursday and lost 10-0 to the Warhawks. Base hits were recorded by C. Hasty, M. Hasty and Trca, with a walk each for Lienemann and B. Askelsen. Friesleben threw 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight earned on 11 hits with a walk and two K’s. Wibholm was in for 1/3 of an inning, allowing no hits but giving up two walks.
They hosted Webster City on Friday in an NCC game, losing 11-1 to the Lynx. M. Hasty scored the only run in the bottom of the first, with a free pass to Dow bringing her in after the bases had been loaded. Steals were by M. Hasty and Karlee Lehman. Friesleben worked five innings in allowing two earned on eight hits with four walks and one strikeout.
