The thermometer was creeping towards 100 degrees on Saturday, but that didn’t stop folks from enjoying a fun and fishy time at Lake Cornelia. Wright County Farm Bureau sponsored a free meal followed by a free fishing derby. Both were well received. Organizers said they fed around 120 people. 45 people then signed up for the fishing portion in two categories, 17 years old and younger and 18 and up. For the younger category, the “Biggest Fish” prize was taken by Braden Dougherty for his 12 ½ inch bass and the “Most Fish” prize was won by MJ Nel with his catch of eight fish.
Sharron Hauge took the “Biggest Fish” for the adult category with an 18-inch catfish. Sharron said she hadn’t been fishing for 20 years! Manie Nel had the “Most Fish” for the adults with four. All in all, it was a great day and people appreciated the local Farm Bureau’s efforts to put on a fun event!
